As you all know, It is that go-shopping-for-christmas-presents time of year again! The shopping malls will be PACKED out (as always), and your kids,siblings, parents, etc will be adding something to their 'what I want for Christmas This Year' list. Instead of breaking the bank because of buying designer clothing (which although is a must is also a way to get rid of your money immensly), try and shop online from places like Forever 21, H&M, Bloomingdales ( JC Penny is a NO NO) , and any other stores which have all the seasons latest Ready To Wear and Haute Couture trends but about 90% cheaper! Although wearing a $20 jacket from H&M is not the same as wearing a $1,700 fur coat from Ralph Lauren ,but you will be ALOT happier when it comes down to buying your loved one a new iphone for xmas (all the rage for men)!

Chanel Spring-summer ready to wear

This years Chanel spring-summer ready to wear was fantastic! A huge success! The theme was elegant country side which I thought was a nice idea. Alot of the outfits had that 1800's, yet modern look about them. Each peice of clothing had something special about it! I really loved the way that the models had fun on the catwalk . Chanel usually does not do that kind of stuff. The shoes were very elegant (I would not have minded a pair or two for my self )!

One of my favorite peices was a white outfit(shown in the 1st picture on the far right). I think it has so much elegance and style. I would LOVE to wear this to a party! The music was country side-classical mixed with Lily Allen . The runway was supposed to be a barn in the country side with romance in the air.

Don't get us wrong, we love the European cities, but two eggs over easy for breakfast, sliding around in a yellow cab, and sales assistants that actually pretend to love their job is refreshing. Star spotting is on an A-list level, with Madonna, Charlize Theron and Victoria Beckham all making appearances. The latter talked us through her latest collection: 19 beautifully executed dresses that any girl would be happy to have in her wardrobe. The one exception was a chrome yellow number, which we suspect would prove slightly tricky on a pale English complexion.In a sea of neutral shows, DKNY and Marc by Marc Jacobs were a refreshing breeze and came with a few styling tips: roll up the trousers, and mix up the colours and prints. DKNY showed bright florals and graffiti prints bursting out from under a slouchy grey suit. The dresses were cut short and sexy and a delicate peony print top was teamed with a bold miniskirt. Marc by Marc was reminiscent of the Desperately Seeking Susan 80's - more is more, then shove a large bow on top. Backstage, British accessories designer Katy Hillier was overseeing the sweet shop selection of accessories in every colour, with the models queuing after the show to take one home. At Mulberry, the models' hair was crimped and backcombed into huge 'dos. Super-short dresses and candy-coloured prints reigned supreme. Over at Philosophy, lip motifs decorated cute summer separates.With New York setting the tone for a colourful spring/summer 2010, we're looking forward to London rising to the challenge and continuing the uplifting mood. There was so much glitz and glam at this years fashion night out in New York .It started off (in the morning), 120 beautiful models running across the New York streets with fashion night out tee-shirts! Who could miss seeing that! And what a great way to advertise it too! When night finally came, the scene was a beautiful, starry ,busy night. There were models running about and some famous fashion designers and (drum role everyone), Anna Wintour!!!!!! I would have loved love to of been there/seen that!

Model of the Week; Eva Riccobono

Eva was born in 1983 in Palermo, the biggest city in Sicily. Her mother is from Germany, her father is Sicilian with Norman descent (like most people in that place). She has 3 older sisters and a brother who died when she was 4.

At 14, Eva was introduced to the fashion world by photographer Luca LoBosco. When she was only 17, the Italian magazine Corriere della Sera named her "the new Laetitia Casta" because her face (but not her body) is quite similar to Casta's. From that moment, she became one of the most important Italian fashion models and started travelling between Milan, New York, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, London, Rome, Hamburg, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. She has appeared in magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan. She has also posed for the Pirelli Calendar in 2003.

In 2002, she appeared on the TV program Stasera pago io with host Fiorello, who is also from Sicily.

In 2006, she caused a scandal when she said that "anorexia and alimentary disorders between young girls are because of fashion system" and "stylists are guilty of it" in an interview of the Italian magazine Grazia about the death of Ana Carolina Reston.

I love Marc Jacobs!

My trip this summer, was to Santa Barbara and San Francisco! When I went to SF, of course ,I had to visit the wonderful Marc Jacobs store! You saw so many people standing outside the store, and looking into the window, but not going into the store. You just wanted to give them a big smack on the cheek and tell them to get the heck in there! As I walked in, I could smell the fresh smell of newly made clothing. I didn't manage to get any ready-to-wear clothing or haute couture. Both of those things were just a tad over my price budget! I did manage to get a few accessories like a vintage looking necklace, a water bottle (for fun), compact mirror, and a purse. They have tons of great deals at that store! Personally, it was just an honor to be able to touch the clothing from there collections. When you visit San Francisco, Marc Jacobs is the place to shop!

Chanel fall/winter 2010 review

With glitz and glamour Karl Lagerfeld designed some of the most beautiful outfits ever! From the very first piece of clothing to the last, everything had some umph.

Lots of the outfits had multi-colored bubble like dots. It reminded me of snow flakes. Not sure why! What really made me look was hat all of he oufits had long trains behind the skirts. It made everything look a bit different/abstract. The hair on the models was brilliant. It reminded me of repunzel. The hats were ok, I thought thy looked silly. They didn't really go with the outfit, except that they were made of what looked the the same material as the clothing.The hats went over heir faces which was interesting. It made the collection have a little omething more to it.

The shoes varied in height and shape. One model might be wearing an 1800 typed pair of heels, and one might be wearing a glamorous modern pair of golden heels. I thought it was cool that the collection didn't have just one pair of shoes that varied in color. The makeup made the outfits stand out a bit more. Mostly heavy eyeliner and eyeshadow. Really bought out the outfits true colors! The models walked in and out of a catwalk surrounded by giant chanel No.5 perfume bottles. What a classic idea! At the end of the show, two models, a man and a women walked out of the perfume bottle. A wedding was the main idea of that part. The dress that she was wearing was one of my favorite outfits of the collection! The dress was about knee length and was a creamy white color with a white train trailing behind it. The man had a plain suit. (What else is a man supposed to wear in an all girls fashion show?)

Over all, the fashion show was beautiful! The music that was my favrite in the show was La Roux:In for the Kill. You should listen to this song, because it is great for the catwalk and is a great song. You can look at my video bar to watch the fashion show or go to chanel.com.

Emma Watson, was born in Paris on the 15th of April, 1990. Emma is mainly famous for her big role in the Harry Potter series, Hermione Granger. Emma is not just an actress any more though. She is now quite well known for modeling for burberry. If you order vogue magazines, you probably have seen pictures of her. They have transformed her from innocent little Hermione into an attractive teenager who wears lots of makeup.

At her young age, she had wanted to appear on a few fashion magazines, but to be honest, back then her style was ,well lets face it quite unnatractive! But now, things have changed and she has a pretty good fashion sense! Although you may think Emma would be living in a huge mansion, she actually has a quite small, normal house. But with a huge extended family!

Emma is now about to attend college, but will 'never stop modeling or acting' she says.

Chanel fall/winter 2010 sneak peak review

The incoming of more beautiful chanel clothing is bringing excitement all around the world. Especially for winter, when most people buy designer clothing for fancy holiday parties, christmas, and etc. The newest collection (chanel has not yet posted the fashion video to public...yet), looks absolutely beautiful. It has (in my opinion) vintage with a twang of avon guarde. The preview shows that the runway was a huge square stage with three large white bottles of chanel's most famous perfume, chanel no. 5. Women walked out and in of the bottles. The clothing in the preview gave you a big hint about the clothing that would be in the whole fashion show: black and white-creamy colors with elegant bobbles here and there with classical hair styles.

Forget high fashion in
NewYork,Paris or Milan:Oxford Street in London will be hosting
the country's first high street fashion week in September this year.

Usually Oxford Street is reserved for tourists, unimaginative shoppers and sweaty
people who enjoy human
traffic jams. Needless to say, Fashion Statement wouldn't be seen dead
near the place on a
weekend, even if we were Michael Jackson
and had a motorcade on
its way to a Topshop wake in our honour.

Moving swiftly on...

Launching on September 7
, the week will act as a
prelude to the established London fashion week,
which will take place at Somerset House from September 18-22. We
imagine it will be an
excellent way of encouraging recession-wary shoppers to empty their purses. The
shops that have already
signed up for the event
include Uniqlo, Debenhams, John Lewis and Topman.
We assume that with
one member of the Arcadia group signed up, the others including Topshop, Dotty P
and Miss Selfridge
won't be far behind.

So, are we likely to see
the full fashion week works: catwalks, backstage
bitching and skinny models?
Well, it's not entirely clear
who or what will be going
on, but it looks as if each
brand will offer sneak
previews of their autumn/
winter collections, there will
be plenty of champagne flowing, and there will be
promotions on offer for shoppers.

The Telegraph also reports

that in August, Oxford Street shoppers will be asked to

vote for their favourite

celebrity "High Street

Queen", with the winner

playing a major role in the

week. Our money is on

Cheryl Cole.

BANG ON TREND

Summer hats

It seems like only last week

that we were talking about

snow (it wasn't, of course,

it was February) and now

there's a heat wave

happening and the whole

of Britain is on red alert.

It's definitely time to ditch

the woolly beanies and

break out the straw

boaters.

Hats can often be difficult

to wear, but thankfully

there are loads of celebs showing us how to work

this season's trends. We spotted Chloe Sevigny

in a squished boater a

couple of weeks ago.

Never slow off the mark,

a similar hat is now

available at Topshop for £20.

A word of warning:

be careful not to cross

over into Worzel Gummidge territory. Try teaming with

scarlet lippy and

maybe a Breton stripe.

For a new twist on the straw

hat we like this expensive

one by Grevi. It costs £105

but with a thin leather belt

in place of a ribbon, it's

different, and by 'eck

it's nice!

Pixie Geldof, who for some reason irritates us like a

bed of nettles, was

spotted at Glasto in a

cloche with a brim. We've

found a similar version

from an Italian company

called Forzieri for £148.39.

Be sure to buy in a light

colour to avoid your head heating up.

For a classic straw trilby

with a twist, why not go

for shocking pink? This

fuschia straw hat by

Dorothy Perkins is only

£15 and will make sure

you stand out in the festival crowd.

Topshop also has a nice

straw hat for £20.

FASHIONISTA OF THE WEEK

It was a toss-up this

week between Marion

Cotillard, who has been

out and about looking

absolutely stunning while promoting her new film

with Johnny Depp,

and Keira Knightley,

who has also been out

and about at a screening

of her new short film, The Continuing and Lamentable Saga of the Suicide

Brothers. In the end Keira

got it, partly because we've

not seen her out for ages

, and partly because she

was wearing one of the

most gorgeous butterfly

prints we've ever seen.

the waist and worn with

Caroline Trentini is a well known fashion model who was born in Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil on July 6th, 1987.At the young age of 13, Caroline was spotted by a fashion agent/model Gisele Bundsen when walking down her pebble-stoned street in a 'graceful' sort of way. Soon afterwords, Caroline moved to Sao Paulo, a common destination for brazilian models. As soon as she moved there though, she hit the jackpot. She was then moved over to New York where she is currently living now. She has modeled for Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, Chanel, Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Versace, Vera Wang, Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabanna, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, and many other famous fashion houses. She is close friends with fellow models Heather Marks, Agness Deyn, Cintia Dicker, Natasha Poly, Jessica Stam,Choco Rocha, and many more models. By Rachel Holmes What are the new trends in menswear? With one fashion week over (Milan menswear) and another to come (Paris menswear), we've been taking an unhealthy interest in men's clothing this week. Of course, it's nothing to do with all those half-naked male bodies strolling down the catwalks. No, we're wholly focused on trendspotting for our loyal readers. Honest. Our overriding impression so far is that everything seems unnaturally wearable. This is a good thing in the world of fashion, and probably shows the designers' reaction to the recession. No freaky couture showpieces here; instead we've seen beautiful soft tailoring and slim fits. Jackets were cut sharply with slim, defined shoulders and thin lapels: check out Raf Simons for Jil Sander. Trousers were cigarette cuts ending just above the ankle, often with something going on in that area: cuffs, roll-ups or zips (a la Gucci). Or they were baggy with pockets, in a nod to utility wear. We also saw the odd harem pant (but we'd prefer not to mention that). Gucci, Prada and a few others showcased skinny ties, or no ties at all, with shirts buttoned up to the top and thin collars. Elsewhere we saw a lot of loose-fitting vests, generally with slashed fabric - we'd advise getting a tan before attempting to pull this off. The safari look from last season carried on in many of the collections. Missoni had a lot of sunbleached khaki, which made the models look as if they'd spent a week traversing a desert. Versace used loose-fitting linens in a colonial look, involving tunic tops and trousers in shades of white and cream. The other overriding influence was the eighties, but this was seen mainly in the shiny fabrics and trims rather than in the tailoring. There were no power shoulders here. In terms of prints and patterns we noticed folky yet geometric knits from Missoni; bold monochrome prints and horrible skiwear-of-the-eighties knits from Gucci; and striped boating blazers at Frankie Morello and Vivienne Westwood. Fabrics were often distressed (Emporio Armani) or faded, sometimes adding an air of bygone elegance (Bottega Veneta). Colours were muted, almost autumnal in some cases, and we saw A LOT of grey. In fact, we predict that shades of grey will be hot this time next year. There was also the odd flash of colour: bright oranges, reds or limey yellows. An honourable mention goes to Raf Simons for Jil Sander, whose clothes were inspired by the work of the Japanese artist Tsuguharu Foujita. Raf said of the collection, "It is a message of love - very pure, very simple". We were feeling the love for the prints, but when it came to the pudding-basin hairdos we only felt nauseous. We were pleasantly mystified by the Cavalli show. Models seemed to be wearing trousers that could zip up to the mid-chest. Fashion Statement spent a good ten minutes pondering who, of the men we know, could get away with this singular look. Interested? Take a look here. We liked the BMX stunt-cyclists on the catwalk for Emporio Armani. Last but not least, thanks go out to Dsquared2, who made us giggle with their camping on the catwalk theme. We called it 'German tourist meets lumberjack and skater in the Bavarian mountains'.

BANG ON TREND

Glastonbury kicks off the festival season this week. If you're planning to hang out in a muddy field listening to music, here are a few hints and tips on what to wear.

If the sun appears you'll need some cool shades. Steer clear of bright frames - leave it to the teenagers - and stick to classic black, tortoiseshell or brown. For those on a budget we likeUrban Outfitter's Demi tortoiseshell glasses, £15. They have the shape of Wayfarers without the cost.

For those lucky enough not to have to think about such petty things as price, we'd go for the sunglasses of the season, Ray-Ban Clubmasters at £79.

You'll also need a hat to prevent sunstroke. Straw hats have proved their staying power. The trilby is still in fashion and available in a Topman near you; however, we prefer the panama for a little more panache. Debenhams have a cheapo version for £15 and ethical fashion label Pachacuti sell the real deal for between £30 and £60. It might be worth investing in a Pachacuti one because they travel so well: you can fold them up small to fit in your rucksack and they'll take a shower or two without falling apart.

On top you need a funky T-shirt: we'd recommend the Ecky Grandad one by Luke 1977, £40. Not only do we like the name, but it's an interesting twist on a round-necked tee, with coloured buttons and small yet significant details.

Or there's this 'cassette' T shirt by Komodo, which is made from organic hemp and cotton and costs £25.

In case of rain we advise packing an essential item: the Mac in a Sac. £15.95 gets you a waterproof, breathable, pack-away jacket which comes in any colour you can imagine. We think the brighter the better. (Anyone who braved Bestival last year will realise that this is a good spend).

For warmth and style of an evening we like this Raf by Raf Simons hoodie. It's not a bad price at £70 and has big buttons and a bright colour.

Moving downwards, we like Topman's washed-out denim shorts which come ready-distressed for £25. They'll probably still look good spattered with mud.

Alternatively, simply cut off a pair of old stonewashed jeans just below the knee and roll up. The more battered the better - think of a pair you'd use to decorate in.

Finally, we know they're heavy but we would heartily reccomend taking wellies if there's any chance of rain. Who knows if it's Anna Wintour's influence or whether Federer has just made a natural progression from his retro cardie last year, but when he hit the courts at Wimbledon earlier this week he was styled as if for a Vogue shoot. While he looked kind of ridiculous in three layers on a sunny day, we couldn't help admiring the confidence of a man who's comfortable carrying around a gold lamé tennis bag.

First of all, a tip for next spring. Forget the manbag: satchels and rucksacks are now officially passe. How do we know this? Dolce & Gabbana told us. About half of their models were seen striding in a masculine fashion down the catwalk with a man clutch (Mlutch? Much?) in hand. They were black, shiny and had room for a wallet and a Chapstick, but that's about it.

Secondly, we were perturbed to hear that Topman has introduced 'the shacket' (will this amalgamating of names never end?). Yes, it's a shirt and a jacket. Together. From the picture it just looks like a shirt with an elasticated waist but, hey, we're not designers. To be worn with a T-shirt underneath and skinny jeans, according to the Topman blog.

Perusing the latest issue of The Chap: A Journal for the Modern Gentleman, we were intrigued to see their Olympiad Extravaganza 2009 scheduled for Saturday 11 July. This year's event will see a concoction of sporting activities based around gentlemanly pursuits, including the Cucumber Sandwich Discus, Umbrella Jousting and Moustache Wrestling. Prior to graduating from Immaculate Heart High School in 1991, she wanted to give modeling a try. She applied and was accepted at Loyola Marymount University, that Elite modeling agency gave the 17-year-old, her first modeling job. Afterwards, she had been rejected many times for modeling assignments, which led her to drop out of college so quickly.

Within Banks's first week in Paris, other designers were so entranced by her presence on the runway that she was booked for an unprecedented 25 shows--a record in the business for a newcomer. She has done extensive print and/or runway work for fashion/advertising giants such as Anna Sui, Coors Light, CoverGirl, Badgley Mischka, Bill Blass, Cynthia Rowley, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Gemma Kahng, H&M, Isaac Mizrahi, Maria Snyder, McDonald's, Michael Kors, Milk, Nicole Miller, Nike, Inc., Oscar de la Renta, Pepsi, Perry Ellis, Randy Kemper, Richard Tyler, Rifat Ozbek, Swatch, Todd Oldham, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria's Secret, XOXO, and Yves Saint Laurent. Banks' television career began on the fourth season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in which she played lead character Will's ex-girlfriend Jackie Ames, and made eight appearances throughout the series. Other screen credits include Felicity, MADtv, Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out (in which she was featured as special guest host and team captain), and The Price Is Right (guest-starring as a Barker's Beauty).

Currently, Banks can be seen on television as the hostess, head judge, and executive producer of the UPN (now the CW) television show America's Next Top Model. In addition, she does double duty as the host of The Tyra Banks Show, a daytime talk show which premiered on September 12, 2005 and recently began its second season, drawing over 1.9 million viewers an episode. The show features stories about everyday people mixed in with celebrity interviews, much like the early format of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Under the slogan "Every woman has a story...and it happened to Tyra too", Banks promotes her show using emotional flashbacks to her own childhood and adolescence. Many of the episodes deal with issues facing women today.

On the big screen, Banks has had minor roles in a few movies. Her first big screen role came in 1995 when she co-starred in the critically acclaimed drama Higher Learning. She went on to co-star with Lindsay Lohan in the Disney film Life-Size, playing a doll named Eve who comes to life. Other notable roles include 1999's Love Stinks, 2000's Coyote Ugly, and 2002's Halloween: Resurrection.

In personal life she has previously been linked romantically to musical artist Seal, NBA players Rick Fox and Chris Webber, hockey player Mark Messier, and director John Singleton. She has said repeatedly that she has no plans on dating or getting married any time soon. Currently, she is enjoying the single life and has recently moved to New York City where she focuses on both of her TV shows.

The year was 2001, and a new fashion starlet was about to emerge, butterfly-like, from the Muggle world, wearing a shiny green smock top, faux snakeskin platform shoes and yellow trousers from Tammy Girl. It was hideous - but she was only ten years old. Who knew that eight years later Hermione Granger would become one of the most talked about fashionistas of the year? Yes, by the summer of 2007 our Hermione had ditched her robes, pointy hat and shiny shoes for Louboutins, a YSL clutch and host of pretty dresses. Rumours flooded the internet: Hermione was about to oust Kiera Knightly as the star of the new Coco Mademoiselle ad campaign; she'd been signed by Storm modelling agency; she was about to close a £2m deal. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old travelled the globe with Ron and Harry, attending film premieres. Hermione wore a different Chanel dress to every one, wowing the crowds and adding fuel to the fire. Then she dropped off the fashion radar. We can only assume Voldemort's star was on the ascendant once again, and Hermy had to spend some time in Hogwart's library boning up on new enchantments and fighting off Dementors. When she re-entered the fashion scene a few months later it seemed that Chanel were no longer working their magic on her: she was pictured wearing a blue shirt-dress that deserved to be fed to a Hippogriff at the National Movie Awards 2007. It would be another year before the Boggart in the wardrobe let her come out again, and this time her Patronus charm worked: she was the star of a spooky Harper's Bazaar shoot, posing with top designers such as Giles Deacon and Matthew Williamson while wearing their clothes. Since then, Hermione hasn't looked back. She sat primly on the front row of fashion shows in London and Paris last autumn, dressed in Chanel and YSL (we think a stylist was back on the scene). She did an ethereal shoot with Vogue Italia. Then Karl Lagerfeld photographed her for French Crash Magazine, looking so couture it almost hurt our eyes. She even had her eyebrows concealered out and nun-like headgear: proper high fashion! The Gryffindor head, Professor McGonagall, expressed concern this week about Hermione's new direction: "It's all very well, but what about her NEWTs?" she said, adding, "I prefer a 'warts and all' portraiture as opposed to these airbrushed images". We're expecting to see much more of Hermione during fashion week in September, as this week she was announced as the new face of Burberry. "[Hermione] was the obvious choice for this campaign," the Burberry creative director, Christopher Bailey, said. Aside from Hermione, the new Burberry ads were kept strictly Muggle-bound, with no one else from the wizarding world appearing. Instead, the stars were five skinny blokes from the world of film, music and art. We can't wait to see what comes next for the sorceress with the magical fashion touch. Disclaimer: all Harry Potter references are fictional.

We haven't looked at footwear for a while, so let's break the drought and talk about sandals. The aim is to provide a sandal for every taste ... here goes.

Dear readers, some of you may realise how hard it is for me to put finger to keyboard in penning this section ... This week, the coveted title goes to none other than Anne Hathaway. The woman that we have compared to a long-necked bird, to a pale apparition, to our worst nightmare, even, managed to pull it out of the bag this week.

She went to the Tony Awards wearing a black Oscar de la Renta dress with a feathered skirt and red Louboutin heels. The whole look was understatedly magnificent, even down to the makeup and jewellery.

Some rather disturbing news to kick off with: we heard this week that luxury retailer Hermes has started breeding its own crocodiles on farms in Australia to keep up with a huge demand for the classic Birkin and Kelly bags. Chief executive Patrick Thomas, displaying a remarkable lack of sensitivity, explained that it can take three to four crocodiles to make one of the bags and quipped: "The world is not full of crocodiles, except the stock exchange!" Where's Peta when you need them, eh?

By Rachel Holmes Where has Martin Margiela gone? For all of you who thought that Balmain was the first label to bring us the bold shoulder, think again. Avant-garde Belgian designer Martin Margiela (or the Monster Maker, as we like to call him) has been accentuating the shoulder since time began - well, since he was able to wield a pair of pinking shears, anyway. This is the man who gives Fashion Statement an excuse to applaud certifiable insanity (as if we needed one). His spring/summer 09 collection was wondrous indeed: the label's 20^thanniversary show featured models with their heads on backwards (not literally), giant Cousin Itt wigs and a wedding cake with legs. As the programme notes said: 'This fashion show has almost more to do with a performance than a display of garments and outfits.' We were expecting more of the same for autumn/winter 09, but the show seemed strangely subdued: the oddities were still there, but they weren't as conceptually bonkers as before. Some of the magic had gone. So now we're a little bit worried. We shut our ears to the rumours circulating the catwalks last October that the 20th anniversary show would be his last, but then after the show in March this year critics started speculating that Margiela was no longer involved in designing for the label. They thought that his show was lacking the personal vision that usually made it so special. Now, after some asking around, JC Report is also of the opinion that Margiela has left the building. Investigating the matter recently, its reporter was told: "He has not been present since last season." Apparently Margiela is unhappy with Diesel's marketing approach and commercial distribution, which has changed since the brand acquired the label in 2002. Friends! We can no longer ignore the situation. A terrible thing is happening in the fashion world: boredom and inertia will set in if we do not get Margiela back. We'll have nothing to talk about at the Paris shows in the autumn. After a quick poll of the Guardian fashion desk, we think he is either: a) Lost in the minimalist section of Ikea. b) So reclusive that he's now living in a cave in the Pyrenees, dancing naked in the snow and surviving off roadkill and pine needles. c) Designing costumes for Cirque de Soleil. The quiffed coiffure stepped out last week wearing a clinging Alexander Wang dress, which celebrated her curves. The strapless number looked gorgeous against her skin tone, showing us a different way to work our most-hated shade of nude. Lovely.

If you're a wee bit further north, we have a date for your diary: the Scottish Fashion Awards take place on 21 June, and this year the tartan carpet will bear the heel prints of many a world-famous fashionista. Up for the Scottish Designer of the Year award are Christopher Kane, Graeme Black and Jonathan Saunders, as well as the lesser-known Topshop collaborator, Laura Lees. Holly Fulton, one of our favourites from London fashion week this year, has been nominated for the Young Designer of the Year award.

On Friday evening, I went to see the most brilliant movie in history. Valentino the movie talked about Valentino's early life and his life as a designer now. It is filled with love and excitement. Hating and missing. This movie really gives you an idea of what the life of fashion is like. I think tht what made this movie so special was the behind the scenes access and the different fashion shows and how Valentino and his company helped set up for the fashion show. I recomend you see this movie. It will change your way of looking at fashion. I know it changed my fashion's point of view!

2009/2010 Ready to Wear fashion Show by Chanel

The 2009-2010 Ready to Wear Fashion show at Lido Beach Venice was set in the most beautiful location. The swimwear reflected the classic style Venetian Gondoliers with their masks and capes, but wearing little else - most revealing! Hair was mostly bobbled and red or dark .I am sure Choco Chanel inspired them with the hair style- very dramatic with heavy eye-make-up to compliment - the total effect was very glamorous with most of the outfits fitted and shorter, though look out for the gorgeous silver sheath dress and long white shift. Some cool ankle boots to watch for too! I thought the music was very classic and great. It was very jazz-like and relaxing. It is just the type of thing that you would of heard in a cafe in Paris 60 years ago except in a modern way. I hope you liked the fashion-show too.

Moss was born in Addiscombe, Croydon, London to Linda Rosina (Shepherd), a barmaid, and Peter Edward Moss, a travel agent.^[3] Kate has a younger brother named Nick and a half sister and brother. Moss's parents divorced when she was 13. She attended Ridgeway Primary School and Riddlesdown High School. She was not particularly noted for her academic success, although she did excel at sports. According to Fred Vermorel's Addicted to Love: Kate Moss, "Out of eight GCSEs she scraped through with one C (in Science) and all the rest were Ds, Es and Fs".^[4]

Moss was discovered in 1988 at the age of 14 by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Management, at JFK Airport in New York City^[5], after a holiday in Jamaica. Moss's career began when Corinne Day shot black and white photographs of her, styled by Melanie Ward, for British magazine The Face when she was 15, in a photo shoot titled "The Third Summer of Love". Moss then went on to become the "anti-supermodel" of the 1990s in contrast to the "supermodels" of the moment, such asCindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell, who were known for their curvaceous and tall figures.

Moss was voted 8th in Celebrity Sleuths 25 Sexiest Women of 2004, 8th in Maxim's 50 Sexiest Women of 1999 and 22nd in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women of 1995. Men's magazine Arenanamed her as their Sexiest Woman in their 150th issue. In March 2007, Moss won the Sexiest Woman NME Award.^[6] She made her first appearance in the British women's Sunday Times Rich List in 2007, where she was estimated to be worth £45 million. She ranked as the 99th richest woman in Britain, and the 1794th richest person in the United Kingdom, with a net worth of 40 million euros.^[7]

In July 2007, earning an estimated total of $9 million in the past 12 months, Forbes magazine named her second on the list of the World's 15 top-earning supermodels.^[8]

Moss ushered in the waif look in 1993 (which prompted much speculation over her weight) with a highly publicised campaign for Calvin Klein. Her depiction in photographs also drew criticism from then President of the United States, Bill Clinton who spoke out against the growing heroin chictrend. When questioned about her weight, Moss commented "It was just the time. It was a swing from more buxom girls like Cindy Crawford and people were shocked to see what they called a 'waif'. What can you say? How many times can you say 'I'm not anorexic'?"^[9] Moss charmed the fashion industry^{[citation needed]} despite being unusually short for a runway model and has worked for many elite fashion lines. In 2005, she came second on The Biggest Comeback Stars List^{[clarification needed]} – she lost to pop singer Mariah Carey.

In addition to being known for her modelling work, Kate Moss is also an international fashion icon.^[10] She has garnered many awards for her style, including the Council of Fashion Designers of America's fashion influence award and a place on the Vanity Fair's international best-dressed list.^[11]^[12] She appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair's September 2006 style issue. In the year of 2005~ 2006, her style was influenced by Rock and Roll. Due to her reputation, she is credited for setting numerous trends. Versace's Spring -Summer ready to wear clothing was just beautiful. The slim plain look really made those critics happy. I loved the cocktail/ Saturday night partying dresses. They all had that sort of 'Hug Me' material. I think that the dresses had a lot to say. Like here comes summer, or ,lets go to the beach. I could really see some of the critics just wanting to join in on the catwalk. The catwalk had a modern sort of outer space look that was wild and dark. I thought the way the ladies were dressed looked like Twiggy. What I didn't think was that amazing about this fashion show was that at the beginning, all of the dresses looked the same. Lily Cole was born in Torquay, England, and was raised by her older sister. She started her modeling career at age 14. Her big break came in Italian Vogue. She is a common sight on Marks and Spencer's clothing catalogs, Topshop, Anna Sui cosmetics, Chanel, Versace and more! Everyone agrees that Lily has a dollish, young face. I too agree. I think she has a very young face! Cole has been in the movie Saint Trinians . You can find it on amazon and ebay. I do not think you can buy it in America.

I think Lily Cole is a great Model of beauty and fashion.

Agyness Deyn is a model with charm from Manchester. As a young child, Deyn had nothing to do with fashion. In fact, quite the opposite. Her single nurse mother sent her to grammar school in 6th form (or in England 7th grade). Agyness first started modeling at 13 years old. She had always had an eye for style. By age 17, she had already cut her hair crazy short!

She dated one of the band members from 'The Strokes', but ended there relationship in 2009.

Deyn raises money for children in Africa who are starving or abused. Agyness Deyn is an amazing model with her own style and caring mind.

This Haute Couture was absolutely darling. What a nice job Valentino has done! I loved the way that the outfits all had that lovely, spring party look about them. I have always especially loved Valentino, but never as much as this. The dresses all had a plain, classic look to them which I thought was pretty! The only thing I thought was dreary about the whole fashion show was the nice,but lack of 'fun' music. Although the main part of a fashion show is the clothing, I think the music has to be exciting too. I thought the models did an excellent job walking in the outfits except that a few of them took too big of steps! Valentino did a ...brillante lavoro!

Fiona Sibley FASHION DILEMMA Are Balmain's pointy shoulders wearable? This week Fashion Statement is in the grip of two potential pandemics: swine flu and Balmania. World health issues aside, Kate Moss stepped out this week in a dress with heinously oversized shoulders, crystallising the design crown belonging to Balmain's enfant terrible, Christophe Decarnin. The question is: will mere mortals succumb to his conical-shouldered look? Kate's Spock-like dress came from Balmain's A/W09 collection , but Victoria Beckham and Beyoncé are among those already slavishly sporting those bizarre, inverted pyramid blazers from his spring/summer offering. Everyone from the Telegraph to the Sun has been caught whimpering about Balmain this week, proving the Parisian label has reached its tipping point. So are we ready for shoulder pads? Apparently so. Even at £2,920, Balmain's military drummer-boy jacket, the must-have of the season, is under hot pursuit - and net-a-porter.com's stocks had this week run dry. Decarnin has completely transformed the French fashion house into a riotous 80s revival, featuring the sort of studded sandals you might see at Torture Garden alongside stonewash ripped jeans, and a style of jacket last seen gracing Freddie Mercury circa 1986 at Wembley. It's just these knobbly shoulders that have given Fashion Statement the hump. We're not averse to a bit of angularity, but surely this doorway-busting look demands a leap of faith? Still, rarely a day goes by when it seems we don't get a bit more 80s obsessed, and perhaps a few freaky silhouettes can help us beat the recession blues. Nothing beats a ludicrous fashion craze to cheer us all up. Is pointy shoulders it?

BANG ON TREND

Ruffles

By far the quickest way to catapult yourself into spring/summer (short of plumping for full summer colours and gladiator sandals then finding yourself caught in the rain - been there this week?) is to get flirty with a frill.

This pretty linen jacket from Topshop is spot-on with its cascading fabric detail at the front (£45).

Reiss's Blondie dress, £195, has pretty ribbon appliqué (right).

Or for a more casual style opt for this recycled silk light grey cami from Warehouse, £50.

For a strong statement, this sculpted Boudicca blouse in bright blue, £488 from Matches fashion, is a winner.

Keep it to a minimum with these ruffle wedges from Oli, £75

Best of all is this Fendi ruffle clutch, but be warned: it's an investment buy at £543.

At the beginning, the point of shoes must have been to make walking easier - to protect delicate cavewoman skin from bits of rocks on the floor around the fire, and to help prevent broken bones if an ox trod on your toes by mistake. Something like that, anyway: I am a little out of my comfort zone on the historical detail front.

But somewhere in the past year or two, fashionable shoes have pretty much cut all remaining ties with their origins as practical footwear. Somewhere between the skyscraper high heel with too-small platform sole (as modelled by Gwyneth Paltrow), the heel-less stiletto (as worn by Victoria Beckham), the frankly dangerous velvet slipper-sandals that brought half of Prada's models tumbling to the floor last September, and the insanity of the open-toed, bare-ankled boot, shoes became mad. If you actually wanted to walk anywhere, most shoes featured in recent fashionmagazines would be far more a hindrance than a help.

The latest absurdity is the upside-down shoe. While a traditional shoe is sturdy on the base (for aforementioned skin-protection-from-rocks reasons) and relatively bare on top, the upside-down shoe reverses this: a slender heel and bare toe, with thick leather around the top of your foot and ankle where you don't need it. The point of this shoe is that it revels in its impracticality. You can't criticise it for being daft: that's the whole point. All you can do is hope that, fashion working as it does, the next step is the return of the sensible kitten heel.

FASHION DILEMMA

Can Henry Holland save the high street?

Rumour has it that Debenhams has gone Dutch. Whispers that It-boy designer Henry Holland, best known for dressing models in tartan eye patches and slogan T-shirts, has joined forces with the department store have been growing louder all week.

Designer/celebrity collaborations with dowdy high street brands are having something of an upturn in this deepening downturn. Hemlines used to be used as a measure of economic stability - now it's the number of celebrity endorsements that tell us how well stores are faring. This week, chiffon-loving Zandra Rhodes promised her M&S collection would include her signature prints and kaftans, while H&M and New Look launch their respective Matthew Williamson and Giles Deacon collections today. And Biba arrives at Topshop next Tuesday.

So what can we expect from the Debenhams collaboration? The store best known for its Blue Cross sale days and mother-of-the-bride outfits, and House of Holland, whose T-shirts feature cheeky in-jokes like "Let's play naked twister, Linda Evangelista", aren't an obvious fashion marriage. The department store's Designers at Debenhams range has included collections by Jasper Conran, John Rocha and Betty Jackson - all fairly conservative. Will HOH revolutionise the brand with his tartan jumpsuits and mini-kilts? And, of course, will best pal Aggy be modelling the designs? Perhaps a line of slogan T-shirts could reconnect the store with a younger, on-trend customer: "Lets be chums, Debenhams" or "Debenhams, I have succumbed", anyone?

There are plenty of other dream teams Fashion Statement would love to see. Lycra goddess Rosemary Conley could give American Apparel a few tips about how to make sportswear truly snug, while newly pregnant Coleen Rooney is no doubt negotiating a capsule collection for Mothercare. We also predict economic woes may lead domestic goddess Anthea Turner to come to the rescue of Laura Ashley. The most successful relationship of all is, naturally, that between Topshop's Philip Green and Kate Moss. Expect those industry heavyweights to combine forces with Tesco's Florence and Fred clothing line as they inch closer to world domination.

BANG ON TREND

Socks with sandals

We thought the day would never arrive, but we can now say with a straight face that it's acceptable to team orthopaedic sandals with some fashion-forward pop-socks. Not a bad between-season look, if you can bring yourself to overturn years of wise counsel and sniggers at your grandparents' style choices. Agyness Deyn was seen on this shoot in Manhattan last week working the look with some serious colour-blocking, while Chloe Sevigny was spotted sporting a grungier version at Coachella.

As soon as the wind blows warm enough to bare your legs, team your sock/sandal combo with a minidress for ultimate sandal limelight potential. This is not a look for trousers, unless you're a geography teacher. The rule is to choose an unadorned, buckled and chunky design. Step forthClarks Originals - this heritage design from the 1950s in vanilla cream leather (£49) is perfect.

This Topshop style permits a little decorative flair and could still smuggle some socks beneath (£40). Or you could get the look with these chunky platform sandals by Chloe (£225), which would frankly be a bit boring without some ankle-skimming hosiery.

As for what to sheath your feet in, Tabio's plain knitted knee-highs (£9.95) or shin-height cottons are ideal. American Apparel stocks over-the-knee versions while Jonathan Aston's fine rib knee-highs look schoolgirl innocent.

Oh, you all know where to buy socks. Now be off, and flout those buckles with pride!

Doinging silver snooker ball earrings. Bruisers in background. Is Lady Gaga choking on her vogueing? Following her wearable English crockery get-up at the Brits, - what is this, Eliza Doolittle goes to Ascot? Be warned: monochrome, attempt in haste, regret at leisure.

Calling all budding designers: the Ethical Fashion Forum launches its Innovation competition this week to reward talented new designers working in the ethical fashion arena. Judgesd include Anna Orsini from the British Fashion Council and Liberty's Yasmin Sewell, and winners will be mentored towards showing a collection at London Fashion Week - as did previous winner Christopher Raeburn (see pic). Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden 2009 has also launched its search to find four fashion designers to be funded to design a capsule collection for London Fashion Week. The Louis Vuitton fashion show had beautiful features. They made it a beachy sort of look. With flowing pants and cuff-sleaved shirts, any women could be happy wearing these outfits. I loved all of the Edith Piaf music. It made a beautiful, I'm-going-for-an-evening-walk kind of look.

Louis Vuitton added alot of shiny features. Shiny leather belts, Shiny leather handbags, even shiny head-dress. I just adored all of the jewelry too. It was lovely and hangy. Basically all of the shoes had feathers on them. They had an american indian look to them. In the fashion show, they also had alot of muff-like hats.

Dolce and Gabbana beautiful 2009...

Dolce and Gabbana has done a beautiful job with their spring-summer collection. The ball gown outfits have a crinkled , leafy look to them which I think looks beautiful. I also love the masculine silk suits . Very nice. The shoes both have a satin, vintage look to them. Those could definitely be worn to the academy awards! The white dress at the top of the pictures has a beach party/ wedding look to it. Bravo Dolce and Gabbana!

The very first picture is my absolute favorite because of the vintage look. I love the way the outfit has a bunch of corsets sewn together to make one big one! The close up picture of the 'vintage' man and women is really classic. It has a 60's twang to it, and reminds me of the kind of outfit Grace Kelly would have worn in ' To Catch a Thief' by Alfred Hitchcock. I love the way it is colorful ,but vintage.

Dolce and Gabbana vintage look is amazing period! It has that beautiful , plain, original look which you just don't get any more in fashion shows. It is surprising that Dolce and Gabbana had the most vintage in their fashion currently out of most fashion designers, because their fashion isn't that old! I myself am lucky enough to own Dolce and Gabbana sun glasses. Those are keepers!

Small Biogrphy

This beautiful, exquisite dress, is perfect for any occasion. The other day, Me and my friend Madame Couture went to an antique store, and saw an $ 80 ,vintage Dior Jacket. It was beautiful! It looked just like this ine, but in red. Christian Dior was a very amazing man. He was a top french designer(as you probably already know). In Dior's teenage years, his parents hoped he would be a diplomat, but Christian wanted to be involved and working with art. He made money at first by sitting on the street selling sketches for 10 cents each! After college, his father gave him some money, enough to open a small fashion gallery. After that, he became a famous, well known fashion designer.

My friend Madame Couture inspired me to do a weekly update on one particular person, place, or thing. This week, I will show you two sketches made by Yves Saint Laurent himself.

Yves Saint Laurent was born on 1936 in Oran, Algeria. His first fashion prize was won in 1954 because of a beautiful coctail dress he had made. He introduced a trapeze dress for Dior in 1957. These beautiful, vintage looking dresses are one of my favorite Dior selections.Dior must like alot of vintage designs. I have realized that most Dior is vintage/arty. The background scene was really great. Dior staff made it look like they were at an ancient greek fashion show. I am not sure what the greek background had to do with vintage clothing though. I loved the hats too! If you look at the last picture, the costume designer had made a 1920's flapper sort of hat. I hope everyone has a great rest of the spring! WOW! The costumes from Dior were very pretty with a victorian twang. I thought that all of the clothing was very artistic and would take a while to get on to the models. The run way that they were showing on was really unique. Dior had chosen to make the runway into a church. THey were making the judges get the impression that the models were walking out of church about to go to an amazing victorian ball.

The ready to wear spring summer was very pretty! All of the outfits were really pretty and short. I thought that all of the clothing had a bit to much in common. They would send one model out wearing a shiny coat with a short skirt and the next wearing a pink shiny coat with a slightly longer skirt. I thought that this modeling sequence was pretty modern compared to the costume spring summer. The runway was a disco -like stage, but in a plain sort of way. I hope you enjoy the pictures! The simple word ,Wow, Is the only description for all of these strange stylish actresses.

Marion Cotillard ,the star from La vie an Rose has a beautiful, gothic like dress is just the right style. Kate Winslet What have you done with your hair? The award winning actress has obviously messed up her hair with some kind of strange mousse. Her dress is also very out of style. What looks to me like a greek grandma. Angelina Jolie, looking beautiful,but understated apart from the emeralds in her ears.Meryl Streep looks like a grey nun. Were they going to wear that dress in the movie about the nun she was in? And to be honest, Sophia Loren looks pretty ridiculous in that flashy 80's disco gown. I thought she was supposed to be wearing glamorous outfits! Now, Beyonce ,lets see. The hair looks fine, but too plain. What were you thinking with that outfit? It looks like a bunch of curtains sewed together! You did a good job when you sang though. Anne Hathaway's Dress was very pretty. Is it just me, or is she getting paler and skinnier every year? Taraji P Henson, from The Curious case of Benjamin Button , has a beautiful, creamy dress that had a wedding sort of twang to it.She looks very elegant. Sarah Jessica Parker ruined her pretty Dior dress by tons of cleavage in silly areas. Major disaster. Last of all, Miley Cyrus' dress was like a big mirangue with sparkles. I also think it was great the way that they made the runway look like a sidewalk ,

and the fashion room they were walking out of a Chanel store. It was as if they had

just bought something from the shop.
